A Woman's Honest Guide to Longevity and Strength
Here is the whole promise in one breath. More good years, the kind where you are strong and clear and able to do what your life asks of you, built for your body rather than a man's, and mostly free. This page is where you begin. Print it, keep it on the fridge, and come back to it once a year.
The whole book in miniature. Four foundations you build on, a lens you lay over them because you are a woman, and one honest filter you hold up to everything else.
Read each foundation and count how many statements are true for you right now. The one where you score lowest is the best place to begin.
I do strength training at least twice a week. I move at an easy pace most days. I practice my balance. I feel strong enough for the demands of my daily life.
Most of what I eat is whole, real food. I get real protein at every meal. I eat a wide variety of plants across a week. My drinking is genuinely light, or none.
I sleep well most nights. I have real ways to calm my stress. My mood is steady, and I would reach for help if it were not.
I have people I feel truly close to. I have a reason to get up in the morning. I feel connected rather than isolated.
I understand where I am in the menopause transition. I know my key numbers, like blood pressure and blood sugar. I have a clinician who takes my body seriously.
Give yourself one point for each true statement. The foundation where you scored lowest is where your next good years are most easily won. Pick one thing there, begin it this week, and let it become ordinary before you add the next.
If you do one thing today, make it this. Stand up from a chair without using your hands, ten times, and take a brisk ten-minute walk. Muscle and movement are the single most powerful lever there is, at every age, and they cost nothing.
